About this tool

Some older exam-board and recruitment portals still cap photo uploads at 10KB, a holdover from when storage was expensive. A typical phone photo is 300–600× that size. This tool automatically drops quality and, if needed, scales the image down until it clears the 10KB bar.

Because the budget is so small, faces and text stay identifiable but fine detail is lost — that's expected, not a bug. If the portal accepts a slightly higher limit, try 15KB or 20KB for a noticeably sharper result.

Questions

Does my image get uploaded?

No. Everything runs locally in your browser — the file never leaves your device.

Can I target a size other than 10KB?

Yes, change the target field to any KB value your form requires.

My file is exactly at 10KB but got rejected — why?

Some portals check the limit strictly (e.g. "under 10KB" excludes exactly 10,240 bytes). Nudge the target down a little, e.g. to 9KB, and re-download.

Which formats are supported?

JPG, PNG and WebP — the output keeps your original format. Note that PNG is lossless, so very tight targets rely on downscaling rather than quality reduction.
