About this tool

3x4 inch (900x1200px at 300 DPI) is a common ID and visa photo size in several countries' application systems, taller than the 2x2in passport standard. This tool crops your source photo to that exact aspect ratio and fills the full canvas by default, though you can switch to Fit mode to keep the whole photo with padding instead. Output is always JPEG, matching what these forms expect.

Because the crop is centered on the frame, a photo where your face and shoulders are already roughly centered gives the most reliable result.

Questions

How is this different from the passport photo (2x2in) tool?

3x4 is a taller aspect ratio than the square 2x2in passport size — use whichever your specific form asks for.

Will it crop off the top of my head?

It crops evenly from the center, so keep your face centered and not too close to the frame edge in the source photo — or switch to Fit mode to avoid cropping altogether.

Can I use this for a visa application?

It gets you to the correct pixel dimensions; always check your specific visa office's background and pose requirements too.

Is this the same as a "crop 3x4" tool?

Yes — the default Fill mode crops your photo to exactly fill the 3x4 frame, the same result as manually cropping to a 3x4 ratio, done automatically.
